1 / How do I purchase tickets for MMB 25?

Tickets for MMB 25 will be on sale from February 2nd, 6pm (GMT) onwards. The tickets can be purchased through our ticketing portal ("Purchase Tickets").

2 / Do I need to pay the full ticket price upfront?

Yes, we require a full upfront payment of each ticket. Bank transfer payments should be made within 48 hours of ticket checkout. If you believe this may be a concern for you due to accessibility, please email ticketingandwebsite2025@magdalenemayball.com.

3 / How can I buy ticket add-ons?

You may purchase add-ons (i.e. queue jump, dining and punt into the ball) when you checkout your tickets. Alternatively, you can still purchase add-ons after you have bought tickets, subject to availability.

4 / Can I buy tickets for my friends who are not from Magdalene / Cambridge?

Current members of Magdalene College can bring up to two guests by purchasing Guest of Magdalene tickets upon checkout. Members of the University of Cambridge or alumni of Magdalene College can bring up to two guests by purchasing Guest of Cambridge tickets upon checkout.

Please also note that it will be the responsibility of the ticket purchaser to purchase add-ons for the guest and request for name changes should the guest be unable to attend.

5 / What if I can no longer make the event? What is the cancellation and refund policy?

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide refunds from cancellations. If you have exceptional circumstances, please email ticketingandwebsite2025@magdalenemayball.com and juniortreasurer2025@magdalenemayball.com to make a formal application for a refund. This decision shall be at the discretion of the MMB 25 Committee.

We do accept name change requests, which will be free of charge when made on or before 25th March 2025. Any requests made between 26th March to 11th May will incur an administrative fee of £40, and requests made between 12th May to 1st June will incur an administrative fee of £80. Name changes have to be approved by the Head of Ticketing and Website.

6 / What is the dress code?

The dress code for Magdalene May Balls is white-tie compulsory. Guests are expected to wear an evening suit with tails (also known as a dress suit) with a white waistcoat and bow tie, or a full-length, formal evening dress. Formal dress shoes are encouraged as we have a strict no-trainers policy but heeled shoes are not mandatory.

Shawls, the traditional white-tie garment, will be optional for MMB25 though sleeveless shoulders will still be expected to be covered by garments (e.g. shawls, pashmina etc.)

As an alternative to wearing White Tie, all guests to the Magdalene May Ball are also welcome to attend in formal National Dress, reflecting the rich cultural diversity of our community.

Optional: Gloves are traditionally worn, which are removed when eating, but not compulsory at MMB 25. Short-sleeved or sleeveless dresses are paired with either very long or very short gloves; three-quarter length sleeves are paired with gloves that reach the sleeve and overlap them slightly.

Please feel free to email ticketingandwebsite2025@magdalenemayball.com for more dress code clarifications if needed.
