Mystery Jets
Mystery Jets is one of the most popular English indie bands to have emerged in the last
decade. Their sound of harmony-splashed psychedelica has produced a string of British
anthems, from the jumping
"Two Doors Down" to their infectious collaboration with Laura
Marling,
"Young Love". Their 2010 release,
"Serotonin", has shown that British indie is far
from dead. Fresh from an American tour and famed for their energetic live performances,
they are sure to produce a memorable headline set.
The Joker & The Thief
The Howlin' Dan Grabiner's trio returns to Magdalene to open the main stage. Named after
their massive love of Dylan and Hendrix, The Joker & The Thief are known for their chaotic
and raucous antics on stage, delivering a ragged blend of soulful sax, jazz-beat percussion,
and rock n' roll. Their debut "Secret Ballroom" EP will be released this summer and they
are due to feature on Mumford & Sons' next release. Their new release ,
"I Do Too", shows
that these guys most definitely like to walk their own way.
Itchy Feet
Swing, soul, funk, rhythm & blues, rock n' roll and Ska. Itchy Feet is all about the old.
These musical nomads have travelled the country inspiring the youth to dance. Itchy Feet
DJs have excited student audiences and have led to a revival of soul
music. Have a
listen to their podcasts, guaranteed to get your feet moving through the early hours.
Jamie XX
Having recently gone solo, Jamie XX has received great critical acclaim for his daring
collaborations. His debut album, a rework of Gil Scot-Heron's "We're New Here", has shown
his real talent, and includes mesmerising remakes of
"I'll Take Care of U" and
"NY is Killing Me".
His stunningly original remixes of the likes of
Adele,
Eliza Doolittle and his own band,
The XX,
prove that he is truly one of the best DJs in the UK. He has promised an unforgettable 90
minute headline DJ set.
Clean Bandit
With the Chatto String Quartet at its core, together with a reckless fraternal rhythm section
and front man who has been described as "the bastard son of Dizzee Rascal", Clean Bandit
crafts a heady cocktail of pop, electronica and hip hop. One of Cambridge's best exports, their
debut single,
"Mozart's House", has become something of a Youtube revelation. They have
promised to do something extra special for this year's Centenary Ball.
... plus a vibrant sunrise set from Cambridge favourites
Truly Medley Deeply. On top of all this there will be five additional stages of entertainment running throughout the night making for a spectacular night.
